Artist Statement
As a creative person I feel the instinctive urge to recognize and discover beauty. The desire to enhance and build upon it is my very métier. I listen to the hearts intuitive nuances of my idiosyncratic predilections to bubble up and present themselves; that cathartic moment for my true colors to shine through. For me, art is the chance to complete the picture, fill-in-the-non-linear-blanks and search for the solutions to the mystery of ideas. It is a solitary quest with a multitude of destinations. I am just as surprised at the end of the day as anybody else on the ensuing results when the dust clears. I don’t in point-of-fact deliver, but rather arrive covered in paint smudges and glue specks with my arms full.
My artwork focuses on transmuting, transforming and transcending the debris and artifacts of consumer culture by way of mixed-media assemblage collage sculpture. I reuse and recycle everyday found objects that are combined into many layers of text and imagery. What emerges is a visual narrative that tells a story of reparation and rebirth. I redirect appearances by reordering and rearranging content both internally and externally. It is a journey made to reinterpret existing models and structures which will then derive into a more meaningful and conscious collaborative conclusion. Basically, I am an alchemist turning lead into gold; the visionary process of alchemy is my artistic voyage. The origin of simple consumer goods is reconstructed thru reorganization and elevated to a position of a one-of-a-kind grandiose imaginative repose and remanifestation.
